Flyer for Kindergarten Rodeo

It's rodeo time! The 47th annual Coahoma Quail Dobbs Legacy Kindergarten Rodeo is set to take place this Friday.

The grand entry will kick off at 9 a.m. in the Coahoma Elementary School competition gym, featuring the 2025 kindergarten class as they parade through the gym with their stick horses.

Professional rodeo announcer Ben Clements will return to call the action. He will be joined by Miss Rodeo Texas Princess Rylie Rodriguez and Miss Rodeo Texas Teen Katelyn Collins. Rodeo clown Keaton Dobbs will entertain the crowd with his antics while ensuring the safety of our stick horse and stick bull riders during the competition.

No Coahoma Kindergarten Rodeo would be complete without a performance by country western singer Jody Nix, a CHS alum, who will perform with the students during the musical interlude.

This tradition began in the late 1970s, initiated by a kindergarten teacher to celebrate the community's rich Western heritage. She enlisted the help of professional rodeo clown Quail Dobbs, a Howard County resident and 2002 Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame inductee.

Quail Dobbs brought in fellow rodeo personalities to participate, and his dedication to the program continues to live on even after his passing in 2014.

On Friday, the public is invited to enter the elementary school building through door 21 and proceed to the gym.
